Information For and About Artists ABOUT OUR FESTIVAL The Interfaith Arts & Music Festival, held this year on October 18 & 19, 2008, is an event sponsored by Central Presbyterian Church of Austin and Friends. The Festival is held with the intention of bringing people together of all faiths. It is our hope that we can promote an understanding between people, through art and music, and thereby generate a common feeling of spiritual unity among us all as inhabitants of this planet. JURYING Please submit three photos of your work for each category entered with the Interfaith Art & Music Application. Photos may be digital files (.jpg, .tif, .png) or print. Every entry must clearly represent the style and quality of work intended for exhibition. All presentations must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name. Only 28 artists will be accepted. Additional artists may be chosen for a wait list. Artists on the wait list will be pulled as needed for replacement purposes or in the event of expansion of the program. All decisions of the jury are final. If applicable, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your application, so we may return your photos. If chosen, photos may be used by the Interfaith Arts & Music Festival for promotional purposes. FEES Indoor booth size is a minimum of 8’x10’; outdoor booths (tents provided) are 10’x10’. Accepted artists will pay a booth rental fee of $150.00 for both days (total). The booth must be in operation the ENTIRE time of the festival – no early take down. No more than one booth may be rented by one artist. Electricity is available ONLY if pre-ordered with this application and is an additional $6.00. We cannot guarantee a specific booth space, but will attempt to honor all requests as are feasible. If you cannot be assigned access to electricity in your requested type of space, your additional fee will be returned. Tables are not provided, but may be rented for a fee of $8.00 each. Artists may withdraw from the show and receive a full booth refund if a written request is made prior to 1 October 2008. A LIMITED number of scholarships are available. RULES ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 1st, 2008 Participation The festival is open to artists of all faiths and beliefs. The work MUST be relative to the topic of religion, spirituality, or God-consciousness. All pieces must be the original work of the artist. Unacceptable work includes, but is not limited to, work produced from commercial molds, templates, or patterns (mugs and t-shirts; kits or casting patterns); compositions or place or animal life (dried flower arrangements); country crafts, imports, decoupage, and mass-produced items. Sales Sale of artwork is at the artist’s discretion. There is no commission on sales. Mechanical reproductions may be sold and must be individually labeled as ‘reproductions’. Each exhibitor is responsible for the collection and proper payment of Texas Sales Tax. Exhibitor Artists must oversee their exhibit at all times and must display their work for the duration of the festival. Assistants and family members are welcome, but not in place of the artist. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own display equipment, lighting, extension cords, etc. The sides and back of your display should not interfere with your neighbor’s display; all exhibition materials, displays, chairs, etc., should be within the booth boundaries.
